Medium to high income earners get hit with a 6% income tax and don't qualify for deductions available to low incomes. This, after getting clobbered with Federal income taxes that include Alternative minimum tax and tax on underpayment of quarterly taxes. I am a far better manager of my money that the State and Federal goverrnments.
