Of course, very few tribes did, however, they did have a sense of personal ownership. Horses, Weapons, Clothing, and the the overall tribe had the sense of ownership. They wouldn't share their land with other tribes, interesting how all of that evolves. We eventually break the tribal mold and then we expand our sense of ownership.
