You are correct to some extent although it's only a relatively small part of the difficult demographic issues in Palestine. I did not agree with Trump's decision to move the US embassy to Jerusalem. That said, the city was seized from Jordan who actively participated in a war of annihilation against Israel and contains the most critical place in the Jewish faith. I don't agree with Israel forcing people out of their homes. To me it's a piece of the puzzle that needs to be settled in a negotiation that both sides can live with other than part of the zero sum game being played by most stakeholders in Palestine currently.

I don't believe Israel has any territorial interest in Gaza other than to remove the security threat of Hamas and its weapons.
