But the way it was presented was that it came out of a wet market and we need to shut down the world due to its danger.

This won't be popular but 9/11 is the same deal. Our govt's actions in the middle east over the years likely sparked the desire to fly planes into buildings. And we know the rest of that story too.
Climate change conveniently fits into the govt scapegoat for many things and a long time created crisis of its own.
