revenue without consideration of debt, other expenses, risk, and so on is meaningless and the reason uniformed fans get confused and frustrated with valuations like those made by the wsj.
an enterprise with $200 million revenue and expense is far less valuable than one with $100 million revenue and $60 million expense. but looking only at the two numbers in a vacuum is folly. there's much more to consider.
