either in the south or out west. I don't understand what you are meaning by this spring trip. This year they opened up in Dallas and then played at FIU in Miami. The year before they played the first two series in Louisiana. Pretty much every Northern team does this.
Also, Mizzou baseball had a pretty good run in the early 2000s. I don't see how you can conclude that they started declining in the mid-1980s. In the 1990s they made several NCAA Regionals and won their last conference regular season title.
