Baseball Team's Spring Trip

I don't think it's a coincidence that MU's overall decline as a baseball program started in the mid-1980s when the athletic department ended the spring trip. The team would travel to warm-weather towns early in the season to avoid the colder weather back home. It was even used as a recruiting tool. But that ended when the AD at the time decided that MU would focus on being competitive only in football, men's basketball and gymnastics. I don't know if a booster funded the spring trip, or if it came out of the AD budget. But maybe resuming that trip would be a good first step to help the program improve. Just a thought.
