qualified person they could get? Maybe. The Missouri baseball job is not an attractive one. You take it because it pays way better than your current job. That's pretty much it. A lot of the names floated out there were unrealistic. None of the MLB names were happening. Hobbs might not have even taken their calls. He can get a better job by waiting. They just hired Blair Debord from Memphis, who hired Jackson at Memphis. MU Hall of Famer Tim Jamieson is his pitching coach at Memphis. He coached at MU previously. He spent years coaching at small schools around St. Louis. So while I don't KNOW if race was a factor in the decision, it doesn't seem like a compelling one to suggest it was made to win PR points for hiring a black coach. There's a ton of MU connections. There are plenty of compelling arguments against this hire. Being disappointed with the hire and jumping to the conclusion it's because he's black, doesn't make a lot of sense here.
