Continue on junior. The Kiev campaign wasn't intended to storm the city. It probably had two goals. First, the Russians hoped to force Zelensky to negotiate and it worked. The Russians and the Kiev regime came to a number of agreements in their meetings in Turkey. Then, in a panic Boris Johnson went to Kiev and threatened them with loss of Western aid if they finalized the negotiations. Second, the feint to Kiev allowed the Russian military to fully deploy to the Donbas, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia lightly opposed. The Kiev feint allowed Russia to secure the land bridge to Crimea and isolate the Azov Nazis in Mariupol. In hindsight, it was a brilliant strategy and the Ukrainians fell for it. Now, a year later the Ukrainians are trying to rebuild another Army. The Russians have destroyed two already. It is a civil war of attrition and the Ukrainians can't win it even with the full support of Nato.
