Before Norm, MU never won a conference championship. After Norm and his 8 Big 8 titles, the media chose the greatest coach in the history of the closing Big 8 and it wasn’t Iba, Phog Allen, Hartman, etc. - they chose Norm.

And I guess for those of you not around then, you probably think Norm was chosen for his great rapport with the media and all the Mizzou love that permeated the conference. Yeah, right.

Question - were you around back then?
