of coaching. Utah State is actually a better team than Princeton, but we had a tremendous game plan and executed it at a high level to defeat Utah State. I'm not sure who had our scout on Princeton (and likely the pre-tourney focus was on Arizona as the possible opponent) but we looked like a team playing on a quick turnaround that was largely unfamiliar with the opposition. We did the wrong things defensively, Princeton got back on D to prevent transition and had very few live ball turnovers which is crippling to our offense, and we resorted to a huge amount of one on one isolation and very few baskets being generated from assists and ball movement. Perfect recipe for a bad game from MU and an upset.
But the correct takeaway from this weekend is how well coached MU was against Utah State, because we have a very good coach. Without the advantage of sufficient prep time and scouting our flaws were exposed. Its more indicative of us having a good coach rather than the other way around as some are interpretting it.
