question touches on exactly that alleged difference.
If we assume the following to be true:
(a) Conservatives want less government than liberals.
(b) Liberals want more government than conservatives.
(c) Pickle wants no government.
Then, wouldn't a logical conclusion be:
Conservatives should like pickle more than liberals like pickle.
Yet, the opposite is true here.
If we assume the following to be true:
