You are going to be hearing a lot about teacher retention the next few years and the four day week has been shown to beat good retention tool.
There are a lot more entering the profession than leaving right now. Turnover has always been high with teachers that are just starting. But I am seeing a lot of teachers with 10-15 years of experience walking away. That has never been the case before. In my time in education teachers who make it past year seven or so are in it for life. A SPED teacher I cotaught with last year walked away after twelve years. He was tired of the BS and was able to get an entry level job a Cerner that paid more. My school lost three experienced teachers who were in their thirties that moved on to other professions and my current district is one of the top payers in the KC metro.
