And discipline and standards are not "subjects" that are taught and take time from academic pursuits.
If a 22 year old "education expert" with blue hair shaved to the skull on one side with nose rings and a pin with a pride flag on it is allowed in school, that is a demonstration of a LACK of standards and discipline in much the same way that dressing properly and speaking well will be a demonstration of both.
And the demonstrations don't take time away from academic study.
