Ability to read the field is solid. Better than most Canes fans realized. Arm strength is above average, not quite elite. He's definitely a gunslinger type and the one knock on him is that he's been known to throw a lot of interceptions in practice. Based on contacts I know who have seen the occasional Canes practice, I think Garcia just pressured himself too much trying to out-compete.
Size and stylistically, I'd actually compare Jake Garcia to Fresno State's outgoing QB Jake Haener. Very similar in style and skillsets. That could be why Kirby Moore scooped Garcia up with quickness.
Also of note - Our QB coach took a job at App State and tried to get Garcia to sign there. I see that as a good sign for Garcia. His QB coach last season wanted him, albeit at a lower division program (but App State can often hang).
