Garcia's high school journey was pretty amazing. Craziest path I can recall. He went Long Beach Poly (a SoCal power program) as a freshman then transferred to another high school in Los Angeles, played his soph and Jr seasons and committed to USC after his junior year.
Then when California decided to go full retard with the COVID stuff and shut down HS sports, Garcia's parents filed a legal separation and his father got a place in Valdosta, GA so Jake could play there. The GA high school governing body had so much hatred of this guy Rush Probst (Valdosta high coach) that they intentionally misapplied a rule to make Garcia ineligible. After a major, high speed PR effort Garcia was allowed to transfer to Grayson high where he won the starting job in week 3, learned the offense and took the team to a state championship.
Very maturing process for this kid. Its partly why Im a big fan of his. Both California and Georgia did this kid wrong yet he worked through it and ended up winning a HS state title.
