I cannot let this go without comment. WTF is she talking about? I have never, not once in my life of over 50 years, heard anything other than our Union was founded based upon violence. Hell, the very first thing we did was declare War on England. And as far as this nonsense about the first Thanksgiving in 1621, yes I was taught that in 2nd grade. But I was also taught was actually happened when I was older and able to properly put it in context. No one is trying to hide anything from anybody. And I'm not going to take responsibility for what the English colonists did, including slavery. If you remember, we eventually had to part ways with them (England).
My people came to this country from Germany and Ireland in the late 1800's with nothing but the shirts on their backs looking for a better life. I acknowledge what happened before that, but it isn't my fault. And similarly, I would bet a very small percentage of people have lineages that go back as far as before the Declaration of Independence.
Maybe she should point that high power of perception she apparently has at the poor communities and figure out why there is generational poverty in this country with all the resources and free education available to get out of poverty. The poor communities account for a VERY significant part of the violence in this country. She apparently is more concerned about the relatively few people that are killed in "mass" shootings and not so concerned about the 50 people that are murdered in Chicago every weekend.
We just cannot be silent anymore when such stupidity is put on display.
