say "at Mizzou." It's quite simple actually to compete at a NC level when you have a Norm Stewart and to an extent, a Gary Pinkel. You don't give the keys to assistants like Quin, Barry, and Drink. You don't make ho-hum hires like Haith and Cuonzo, and to an extent Mike Anderson, who had a decent little run in (1) NCAA, but had connections to a freind's talented kid and his nephew. You certainly don't make a very bad hire in a D2 coach, even with some success, because he hasn't a clue how to recruit at this level.
So yes, you can keep fvkcing it up or you can identify an experienced coach who has recruited at a very high level (Gates) or find a guy like Clawson or Leipold.
