Serious question, what is the process for declassification?

Must the president make a declaration that this document from this person to that person on this date is hereby declared declassified, or can his acts declassify documents?

Can he take a classified document, read it out loud to the media and declassify it in that manner, or must he affirmatively announce the declassification of certain documents before exposing them to the public?
