wrong; but an honest belief stated isn't a lie, as there is no attempt to deceive, nor should it be characterized as a lie. It may even be crazy to believe the wrong thing, but that doesn't turn it into a lie.
You can debate whether or not it was/is an honest belief, but you have to prove it wasn't an honest belief to get to it being a lie.
I thought I read something about Jones testifying that it was his honest belief. I have no idea if they even attempted to prove it wasn't an honest belief.
