they could claim it was from a neutral third party. This blew up in their faces big time.
If they don't appeal it would be a huge PR hit.
I understand the ruling in that the NFL has set precidence in the way they handle these issues but he is the first serial offender, to my knowledge. I have heard people compare it to the punishment Ben Rothlesburger received but Big Ben only did it once. He was accused by over thirty women and my understanding is that the NFL presented six of them this hearing.
The next time a guy slaps his wife and gets a six game suspension they will appeal and their argument will be that Watson got the same penalty for doing it thirty times.
