I've heard from many that the amendment was vague and of course that meant it would be exploited by both sides. Millions of dollars poured in from the pro abortion groups.
As to your point about treating abortion as murder, women were never arrested and convicted before RvW for having an abortion. Rather go after the doctors.
There are other factors other than the legal ones that should be looked at here, namely the human element. Here's a quote from someone who should know.
