The Bug Ten has more quality universities than the SEC. Association with them would likely lead to an improvement in Mizzou’s academics and research. That would likely benefit the entire state and it’s residents.
Athletics do not have the same carry on positive effects that improved academics and research do.
Mizzou likely athletic future in the SEC is middle of the pack at best. The state’s culture simply doesn’t place that much importance on Tiger athletics.
I’m tired of seeing Mizzou ranked 120-130 among national universities. See Forbes and U.S. News rankings.
