every able-bodied man between the ages of 16 and 60, arms them with rifles and sends them out to face a modern, well-trained first class professional army. Ukraine begs for and accepts international volunteers, essentially mercenaries to complement their domestic cannon fodder. However, the major tell is how Ukrainian forces have systematically collapsed into the country's largest urban centers for cover instead of counter attacking the Russian thrusts in mobile warfare. The Ukrainian Army isn't protecting their citizens, they are drawing the Russians into messy urban battles, in which civilians will make up the bulk of the casualties. There are reports Ukrainian soldiers are firing on civilian refugees, as they attempt to flee Kiev. Several journalists have been shot attempting to drive past Ukrainian checkpoints. These are human shield tactics. If Ukraine's goal was to preserve their major cities and save civilian lives, they wouldn't have concentrated their available forces in the cities. The Ukrainian government wants a bloodbath, they want journalists to remain there covering it so the world can witness the carnage in real time. And the U.S. government is facilitating the carnage by sending arms and military supplies in a misguided attempt to bleed the Russians dry. I wonder if our DC leadership has considered the human cost of an extended ground war in heavily populated environment.
