I am not creating an argument...I flat out disagree with you. 95% of the positions I have seen filled around me have generally had at least 3 people they interviewed even if the person is likely known whom will fill that spot, with the general exception for a simple promotion. In some of those cases, a "surprise" candidate was found that was better than the likely person you were going to hire...much like Tomlin was for the Steelers.
