In the United States only 3.4 people per year of the 8000 to 10,000 people bitten by venomous snakes die.

The odds of dying are less than 1 in 2500.

So if you bet that you'll live if you pick one up and let it bite you, you have a much better than 99% chance of winning your bet.

It's still a bad bet though.
