Norm type coaches were the norm in his day. Bottom line, that day is gone and modern players are primma donnas. Norm’s style was one of the reason his recruiting went down in the 90s. I can’t even think of a coach like him or Bobby Knight or Gene Keady or Wimp Sanderson, etc., that is in the game today. I know some will say good riddance to bullies. And maybe so. But they won.
