heroes.
The image of dedicated, selfless, caring, child centered professional educators is quaint, outdated and no longer applicable.
While there are still many teachers who fit that definition, they are a vanishing breed. Today’s teachers are often slovenly, ideological, lazy, and many are just stupid. Thomas Sowell many years ago described the school of education at Cornell as, “the ghetto“. This is where the poorest (intellectually not economically) students were. The students not smart enough to major in engineering, science, business, history or even English, found a soft place to land in the school of education.
And of course many have double majors in African-American studies, women’s studies, and other radical or non-academic areas.
People talk about the school boards as being populated with radical leftists. People talk about the teachers unions as being radical leftists.
Well…anyone heard from the rank and file about how upset they are being represented by radicals?
We’ve all heard about teachers with communist flags in their classrooms and anti-American posters on the wall. We have talked about teachers who gave extra credit for attending demonstrations against political positions with which they disagree. The principal didn’t know about this? Other teachers didn’t know about this? Of course they did. And of course, it was fine with them.
How many teachers are rebelling against critical race theory? How many teachers are willing to stand up and say they won’t teach that crap? I saw a video clip of one teacher tearfully resigning in front of the school board because she couldn’t take the radical philosophy any longer. How many like that are there?
And of course, when one like that resigns, there are three radicals waiting to take her place.
A few years ago Blacksburg high school in southwest Virginia had a homecoming, “queen“ who was male. This was before the transsexual crazy people were all the rage. He was gay, or pretended to be. Not sure. But he wanted to call himself a queen, and the spineless teachers and administrators didn’t dare tell him he couldn’t.
So he was elected homecoming queen, depriving a girl of the honor. Why didn’t this little pansy run for homecoming king? Can kings not be gay? The teachers were OK with this, or were too gutless to say anything.
Not very heroic in my opinion.
There are of course countless other examples of this. And while there are many including some on this board, who are in fact dedicated, child centered and professional educators, too many have given way to the radicals.
It started long before this, but here is a good example of our dedicated teachers.
