females are a whole different story.

With males, you can usually stop it by corraling the aggressor. In most cases, one guy wants to fight and the other just want it to end. If you grab the right one the fight is over. In schools, guys know that they will get suspended for fighting but are likely expelled if they hit a teacher. I have never been hit breaking up a male fight and I have broken up dozens of fights over the years.

Females are a totally different story, the only time in my career that a student punched me was when I was breaking up a female fight. With females you usually have to control both fighters. I was struck in the back of the head because I was holding one of the girls and the other slipped away from the teacher holding her back. She was trying to sucker punch the one I had and punched me in the back of the head instead.

I don't blame teachers who do not step in but I just cannot sit by and watch kids pummel one another, especially if one is not really wanting to fight.
