that he shouldn't worry about the stupidity of the justice system in at least that portion of Houston because presumably people in Johnson County don't have to worry about criminals they let loose in other jurisdictions.

But Tigrrrr!'s point, one that I agree with, is that there needs to be some rationality brought back to the criminal justice system around the country. Being lax with the criminals and letting these dangerous criminals loose back into the community is itself a crime. It harms the community and helps to fray the fabric of a civilized society.
