the hallmarks of a state flagship, but name-wise it's the ONLY purported flagship that doesn't bear its state's name.
I mean, if you asked 100 people to "name the flagship university of New Jersey" how many do you think would respond with "Rutgers"?... My guess is less than 5.
The bottom line is that RU doesn't seem like a flagship university to me. SUNY is *the* State University of New York, with its main campus in Buffalo, but I don't consider that a flagship either (even though some people do).
