the climatic battle of WWII. In the European theater, those battles happened on the Eastern Front where Germany suffered the majority of its casualties during the war (the failure of operation Barbarossa, Stalingrad and Kursk were immense battles that bled the Wehrmacht down to the point where DDay was even possible).
