were going to supplement the state unemployment with $600 from the fed gov't i know at least one member of congress balked at that and they were right. I don't recall who it was but they were spot on, if you were making $400 a week you shouldn't have received $700 a week between state and federal unemployment.
It was abused and abused by people who support either political party. I specifically know people who had their over 18 age college student kids apply for and get huge sums of unemployment. It wasn't just college kids either taking advantage of this, it was people who worked part time or in all honestly just didn't make that much...certainly not $700 plus per week. I bet some people made what they normally make in a year in a 2 month window.
