itself. I think everyone who is capable of receiving it needs a K-12 education. We can argue about how they receive it but those who are not educated to that level are a drain on society.

I think many people who go to college would have been better served going to a trade school of some sort. I could have very easily been an electrician and made a much better living than what I have as a teacher. I am happy with my choice but know many people who feel trapped because their education has pigeon-holed them into careers they do not like.

As to your original statement I think we vastly overvalue advanced degrees. I have met way to many people with masters of doctorates that are functional idiots to automatically value those degrees. Some if the most brilliant people I have ever met had those same degrees though. We should value knowledge and wisdom over some random pieces of paper.
