as bad a district as existed anywhere. There were bad teachers there but a vast majority were very good and dedicated to their students and the profession. We were better funded than any district in the state or any surrounding state for that matter. The problem was not that the district could not provide an education. The problem was that those receiving it, and their parents, saw no value in that education.
The American educational system is good. Failing schools are found in failing communities, you cannot fix those schools without first fixing their communities.
