I think in these situations there are a small percentage of people who use the chaos and crowds as a front to destroy things and steal, knowing the likelihood of getting caught or anyone even caring being extremely low.

Especially as there are now endless videos online of people doing this stuff accountability free. 500 bucks worth of merchandise in exchange for breathing in a bit of tear gas? Not a bad deal.

The funny part is the suburban virtue signaling moms on social media saying stuff like "I'd burn it down too if this happened to my family", thinking the people doing this stuff actually care about the issues.
