Its evolved to the point where in many cases 'conservative' has become synonymous for stupid. So people try to claim they are being persecuted for being conservative or holding conservative views, when in reality they are simply avoiding outwardly saying they are stupid holding stupid views.

Conservative doesn't mean stupid. There is no issue with being conservative or holding conservative views.
