Your point comparing men’s and women’s recruiting is a good one . The chances of an in state school getting a top rated player are at least marginally better on the women’s side.
Examples of men’s programs getting top 20 recruits in recent decades is almost non existent. Division 1 in state men’s schools don’t expect to land those players now.
But..a quick review of the very top women’s players from Missouri in say the past 25 years shows there have not been a great number, and MU didn’t sign them.
Cunningham was the highest rated before Blackwell.
Pingeton’s recruiting , on paper, does seem better in the last couple of years. If it is good enough to win in the SEC is very much an open question. Getting SEC level post players is a real challenge.
I believe it’s in the nature of fans to view “yet to be seen recruits “ with lots , and lots of optimism. I do that myself.
