Though I would dispute it is an easy to adopt precaution as it literally covers up individual identity, and I certainly dispute that it has a public health benefit since there is little to no scientific evidence to support its effectiveness (and even some to suggest the opposite of effectiveness).

But those are tangential to the main point which is that people are controlled by messages and don't look deeper than what their leaders (whether a priest or a public health bureaucrat) say.
