all government payments are gross profit dollars, assuming we are only talking about the ARC-Co/PLC commodity program, the Tariff program and the China virus program payments. Other non-farm programs, such as Crop Insurance, beginner farm operating and ownership loans, minority loans, conservation payments, including CRP, SNAP, Food Stamps, School Lunch programs, etc. are excluded. I suppose that a farmer who has been operating close to break even would count USDA payments as pure profit. That isn't the case for established farmers operating in the black.
