I honestly think most people, including politicians, were acting on what they knew to be the best practice at the time. We didn't know how deadly it was early on. Thankfully it isn't very deadly. Still highly communicable with questions about the long term effects so the mitigation efforts are worth continuing. Shutdowns definitely don't appear to be necessary and are actually more harmful. That being said, if we stop doing what we're doing and the cases start surging again, we're right back where we started and shutdowns will start up again.
