I can only assume that people defend him claiming it was self-defense and he feared for his life.

If I am legally carrying my gun on the same street, can I shoot his ass dead and claim I feared for my life because he was armed and acting unhinged in my opinion and still get the same backing and defense as him?

In a weird way, defending his actions is an argument for doing away with the police and let us just kill each other off vigilante style. I'm good with going back to the wild wild west.
