The hypothesis is the corona virus compels the SEC & ACC to play the fall schedule in empty or socially distanced stadiums. The impact is a substantial revenue hit for the SEC & ACC. I.e. no or greatly reduced ticket sales, etc. including required donations for good seats.
At Missouri, the SEC distribution (the TV money) is about the same or more than the game revenue plus football induced donations. At many SEC schools, the game revenue, etc. is substantially more than the SEC distribution because of the large attendance, i.e. how many SEC schools average more than 80,000 people per game.
Further, the B1G and Pac 12 fans will attend the B1G and Pac 12 spring games and follow their teams on TV. School loyalty will assure the top programs have a substantial following.
The net effect of these circumstances may well be a spring schedule could generate more revenue than a fall one.
The relevant point is there is a possibility that a resurgence of the virus could force the SEC and ACC to play in empty stadiums and if that happens the revenue models change drastically.
