would only get 5 years to play 4. if they've already burned a redshirt then they'd be giving up a year of eligibility i guess?

good question about participating in team activities. i'd think they'd still need to participate like any other redshirt. but you're right that pretty much defeats the point.

honestly i think if they're concerned, they should walk away from the scholarship. it's an incredibly tough call but like others have said, tough decisions are tough because they come with tough consequences.
