Valid question. What happens when COVID is around in 2021?

How many "red shirt" years does an athlete get? One athletic red-shirt year and one "red-shirt" year for COVID? Currently athletes get 5 years to play four. They rarely get 6 years to play 4 but it happens with exception. Most everyone agrees that this will be here in some lesser degree for a long time. How many times can an athlete red-shirt for COVID, still get their scholarship and work on their degree and at the same time quit the team when they are done, all the while retaining scholarship?

Here is another consideration: Athletes that red-shirt are still part of the team: meetings, work-outs, practice, scrimmage, etc. If COVID is their concern and the risks of being in large groups, how do they still do all the team activities?
