that the Democrats are never going to win another election, or that they are going to swing back to the center??

Neither of those is realistic. We're going to have a left wing Demo president with a Demo congress at some point. Might as well get it over with.

Politically, what we have from them now is what we're stuck with, and they're going to win one of these days. We're going to swing back and forth between socialist Democrat governments and conservative GOP governments. And if the Trump wing prevails in the GOP, we'll have a lot less GOP than we do socialist Demos.

The country's only hope is for the GOP to somehow right itself and move back to being a party of reasonable people. That can't happen while Trump's in power.

Some time ago we stopped being a country of serious people. So we got a dilettante President elected because he was black, followed by one who was elected because he had a successful TV show. And here we are.
