The Associated Press changed its writing style guide Friday to capitalize the “b” in the term Black when referring to people in a [racial context], weighing in on a hotly debated issue.

The news organization will also now capitalize Indigenous in reference to original inhabitants of a place.

Daniszewski said the revisions aligned with long-standing identifiers such as Latino, Asian American, and Native American. He said the decision followed more than two years of research and debate among AP journalists and outside groups and thinkers.

“Our discussions on style and language consider many points, including the need to be inclusive and respectful in our storytelling and the evolution of language. We believe this change serves those ends.”


So the rationale for making every racial group uppercase — except whites — is to be "inclusive and respectful".

It's like a South Park episode.

The left doesn't even try to hide their identity politics anymore.

               Which means the current guidelines are: "Black should be - zounami MU - 7/26 19:18:03
               Correct. But applies now (nm) - Hbombtiger STL - 7/26 19:15:42
     For the same reason we don’t capitalize ku - tiger4real MU - 7/26 17:57:24
