capitalized but "white" should be lowercase?

Those are now the current guidelines.

I realize there is still some ongoing debate within the AP as to whether "white" should eventually be capitalized, but the debate should have been whether to capitalize BOTH or NEITHER, for the sake of equal treatment.

Again, imagine if the AP had voted to capitalize "White" but not "black" in every article. They would be condemned as racist white supremacists.

To be clear, capitalizing "Black" in a racial context but not "white" is racist.

The double standard is appalling.
