"Black" but not "white" in racial contexts?
And I'm talking about mainstream media outlets, like NBC for example:

"Black" is capitalized 16 out of 16 times by the author (there are 2 lowercase instances but those occur from quoting written statements). And yet, "white" is lowercase 12 out of 12 times.
It's impossible not to notice, and it's consistent enough that it's obviously intentional.
If the capitalization were reversed — with lowercase "black" and uppercase "White" — there would undoubtedly be widespread criticism of racial bias.
So what's the rationale for it? I'm genuinely curious.
