how many times have we heard "until there's a vaccine"?
it took nearly 160 years to develop a widely available and acceptable vaccine for smallpox. 60+ years to develop a polio vaccine (and polio still exists today). took 80 years (and many, many failed and fatal attempts) to develop a vaccine for diptheria. whooping cough still exists today and infects 24 million people each year...
"until we have a vaccine" may not occur in our lifetime. if history is any indication, it's highly unlikely we live to see a widely available vaccine.
